The information sessions will be held on Oct. 27 at 8:30 a.m., Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 3:30 p.m., at the Arizona Community Foundation. If you cannot attend in person, a webinar is available. BASICS OF PLANNED GIVING & ENDOWMENTS

For those charities unsure of their readiness to apply to AEBI, the Arizona Community Foundation offers a shorter, less intensive course called “Basics of Planned Giving & Endowments.” This five-session course focuses on creating the basic infrastructure necessary to begin a legacy giving program at a nonprofit organization.  Course participation is free to nonprofits that already have an organizational endowment at the Arizona Community Foundation, and $150 per person representing organizations without and endowment at ACF. During this course, attendees will:

a) learn the importance of gift acceptance, investment, spending, and windfall gifts policies,

b) gain a baseline understanding of the variety of planned gift instruments such as bequests, trusts, charitable gift annuities, etc., and

c) learn how to identify potential planned gift prospects among their organization’s donors and volunteers. 

In addition, attendees will be able to determine if their organization is ready to develop and launch a planned giving program, and how to effectively “sell” the idea to their Board of Directors.  Course offered January through May each year.  Due to space constraints, only one participant per charity, please. Only 25 charities will be chosen for the Basics course.

Basics of Planned Giving & Endowments begins with a free introductory workshop to be held on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Arizona Community Foundation, 2201 E. Camelback Road, Suite 202. Register by emailing RSVP@azfoundation.org.
